Magical Wales: 7 Days Exploring Celtic Culture
An immersive journey through Wales's ancient heritage, dramatic landscapes and living Celtic culture
Tour Overview
Discover the rich culture and landscapes of Wales with our seven-day package. Visit Cardiff, Snowdonia, and more. The package, priced at £1,300 per person, includes accommodation, daily breakfast, guided tours, and transportation.
Wales is one of the United Kingdom's most rewarding and underrated destinations – a proud Celtic nation with its own living language, rich mythology, and landscapes of staggering diversity. This seven-day journey introduces you to the real Wales: the vibrant modern capital of Cardiff, the ancient fortress country of the north, the wild Pembrokeshire coastline, and the soaring peaks of Snowdonia National Park.
You'll hear the Welsh language spoken by everyday people, see road signs in both languages, and encounter a culture that has maintained extraordinary vitality despite centuries of political union with England. The Welsh take immense pride in their identity – Mae hen wlad fy nhadau ("Land of My Fathers") – and that pride is infectious and deeply moving.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Cardiff – City of Castles
Arrive in Cardiff (Caerdydd) – the dynamic Welsh capital and one of the UK's youngest cities, having only been declared a city in 1905. Transfer to your hotel near the city centre. Afternoon orientation walk through the Victorian and Edwardian shopping arcades – a unique feature of central Cardiff, the best collection in the world. See Cardiff Castle from the outside and the Bute Park grounds. Welcome dinner at a restaurant in the city centre.
Day 2: Cardiff Castle & National Museum
Full morning at Cardiff Castle – a remarkable multi-layered site revealing Roman fort walls, a Norman keep, and the extraordinary Victorian Gothic Apartments created for the Marquess of Bute – one of the richest men in the world in the 1860s. The Arab Room, Banqueting Hall, and Library are among the most spectacular Victorian interiors in Britain. Afternoon at the National Museum Cardiff (free entry) – world-class collections of art including French Impressionists, and natural history including Wales's only complete dinosaur skeleton.
Day 3: Brecon Beacons & Welsh Valleys
Drive north into the dramatic Brecon Beacons National Park – a landscape of moorland plateaus, river gorges, and wooded valleys. Walk to the spectacular Sgwd yr Eira waterfall where you can actually walk behind the cascade – a genuinely magical experience. Afternoon drive through the historic Welsh Valleys – the coal-mining heartland of Wales. Visit the Rhondda Heritage Park for a fascinating insight into the lives of the miners who fuelled the British Empire.
Day 4: Pembrokeshire Coast – St David's & Coastal Walk
Drive west to the magnificent Pembrokeshire Coast National Park – the only national park in the UK designated primarily for its coastline. Visit St David's – Britain's smallest city, centred around its magnificent 12th-century cathedral, the burial place of the patron saint of Wales. Walk a section of the renowned Pembrokeshire Coastal Path with stunning views of offshore islands where seals and seabirds breed. Overnight on the Pembrokeshire coast.
Day 5: North Wales & Conwy Castle
Drive north to the remarkable walled medieval town of Conwy – one of the finest examples of a medieval fortified town in the world (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Explore the perfectly preserved Conwy Castle and walk the complete circuit of the town walls. Afternoon at Bodnant Garden – one of Britain's finest gardens, with views of Snowdonia as a backdrop. Overnight in Caernarfon or Llanberis.
Day 6: Caernarfon Castle & Snowdon
Morning at the breathtaking Caernarfon Castle – the most impressive of Edward I's "iron ring" of castles and the site where the Prince of Wales is invested (UNESCO World Heritage). Afternoon at Snowdonia National Park – three options: ride the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the 1,085m summit, walk one of the marked trails up Snowdon, or explore the valley on well-marked footpaths past waterfalls and lakes. The summit view [on a clear day] encompasses Ireland, the Isle of Man, and much of Wales.
Day 7: Llandudno & Departure
Morning in the elegant Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno – the "Queen of the Welsh Resorts." Take the cable car or walk up the Great Orme headland for extraordinary views along the North Wales coast and across to Snowdonia. Explore the Victorian pier and the charming town centre. Transfer to Chester or Manchester Airport for your departure. Hwyl fawr – goodbye Wales!
